Villa Erbaia Relais de Charme, Noble Heart of Mugello, is a majestic historic residence that enchants its guests with a perfect harmony between elegance, comfort and tradition. Immersed in the picturesque Florentine countryside, Villa Erbaia is a residence dating back to 1300 where the past blends perfectly with the present to offer a timeless stay experience.
The Dini dynasty, owner of Villa Erbaia until 1918, had its progenitor in the Diger, imperial knight and baron, noble of Danish royal and German imperial blood, who in the 12th century traveled the Chianti hills on horseback armed with his ornate shield of a coat of arms containing an oak tree, which later became the undisputed protagonist of the heraldic emblem of the Dini dynasty.
Il Diger's direct descendant, Aldobrandino I, purchased the Erbaia estate in Mugello in 1300, which has always been considered the most important estate of the Dini family, so much so that Leonardo Dini defines it in his book as "the Windsor of the house".
In 1880, as on other occasions, the villa hosted the King of Italy Umberto I and the Duke of Aosta, with the entire court: previously the villa had seen the passage of Charles V of Habsburg and Pope Pius IX.
In short, the property, with Cafaggiolo (Medici), the Maschere (Gerini), and the ancient estates of the Ubaldini, Guidi, Bardi and Alberti families formed the nucleus of a cultural and economic system that made Mugello illustrious from 1400 until to 1800.
Villa Erbaia is a living testimony of Tuscan history. The original frescoes, the large halls and the ancient terracotta floors evoke the charm of times gone by, giving guests the feeling of taking a dive into history. Surrounded by the iconic Italian garden and a lush olive grove, the Villa offers breathtaking views of a landscape that has remained intact over the centuries, which continues to inspire and fascinate.
The property has been carefully renovated to preserve the historic soul of the home, while integrating modern comforts to ensure a relaxing and comfortable stay.
The Relais extends over 3 levels, with unique and personalized rooms.
