Set among the lush green hills that gently embrace the beautiful Umbrian-Tuscan countryside, Villa Valentini Bonaparte is a charming historical residence dating back to the 17th century located in the street of Laviano, in the municipality of Castiglione del Lago, where Santa Margherita da Cortona was born. The Villa was built by the illustrious architect Giovanni Caproni at the behest of Princess Maria Alessandrina Bonaparte, Napoleon's granddaughter, who in 1853 bought the estate from the Oddi Counts to be closer to her beloved husband, Count Vincenzo Valentini, exiled for political reasons. The residence of the spouses Valentini-Bonaparte quickly became a parlor where the most authoritative exponents of the patriotic movement of Perugia and literati met. Here, Maria Bonaparte wrote to her friend Louise Colet, known French poetess and writer who stayed there for a long time also fascinated by Santa Margherita's story, native of the county of Laviano, to which was also dedicated the chapel inside the Villa.
Boasting ten magnificent suites furnished with vintage furniture, a centuries-old magnificent park, sumptuous Italian gardens rich in scents and colors that evoke unique sensations in every season, a well-equipped spa and an outdoor swimming pool, Villa Valentini Bonaparte is the perfect place for those looking for an exclusive and relaxing stay. Thanks to its strategic position, almost at the crossroads between Tuscany and Umbria, the Villa is also the ideal starting point to visit the major cities of historical and artistic interest of these regions. In fact, in just a few kilometers, you can reach Montepulciano, Cortona, Pienza, Montalcino, Orvieto, Siena and Perugia. Nothing is left to chance in this extraordinary historical residence: from the buffet breakfast prepared with organic products to the experiential options to be enjoyed both inside the Villa and in its surroundings. Up to the excellent culinary proposal of the Restaurant "La Terrazza", which offers Tuscan and international specialties to be enjoyed in front of the breathtaking view of the surrounding hills. Plus the sophisticated Bistrot Bar Colet, which offers international cocktails and fine wines mixed with herbs from the Villa's garden and served with delicious appetizers both by the pool and in the relaxation area of the hydrangea terrace.
