Castello di Mugnana is located in a vantage point along the ancient Roman street of Val di Cintoia, which, through the old hamlet of Ponte agli Stolli, once connected Florence to Valdarno. The history of Castello di Mugnana begins around 1000, when the Lombards built its tower and walls, so that it became the most important stronghold for the Cintoia League first and for Florence then.
