Surrounded by the luxuriant and evocative hug of River Oglio Park, Castello Silvestri was built on the ruins of a Roman villa that dates back to the 2nd century AD. In fact, it has wonderful mosaic floors of that period, which has been discovered in 1870 in the cellar. This is a very important historical evidence, given that it represents the most interesting example of Roman art in the entire province of Bergamo. Nowadays, you can admire it at Bergamo Archaeological Museum, which has been preserving it since the middle of the last century. Towards the Year 1000, they started to construct the fortified building, which, after a series of steps, was purchased by Bernabò Visconti, who gave it as a present to his wife Beatrice Regina della Scala.
