200 years of history
Before weddings, illuminated tables, and ceremonial attire, there were thoroughbred horses here.
Antiche Scuderie Odescalchi still retains something of that aristocratic origin deeply connected to the countryside: they were commissioned by Prince Baldassarre Odescalchi at the end of the nineteenth century as part of his ambitious project to renew the Duchy of Bracciano and breed elite horses. Ever since, they have remained with the Odescalchi family, preserved alongside the surrounding landscape.
It is an unusual story to choose as the beginning of a new love story. Just a few kilometers from Rome and near Lake Bracciano, the estate welcomes couples into a generous countryside shaped by woods, clearings, and gardens where nature continually changes its face with the seasons.
The garden is one of the estate's protagonists. Shrubs, perennial and aquatic plants, seasonal blooms, two large water basins (fontanili), and a French-inspired stream create different vistas along the way. One of the basins, transformed into a nymphaeum and populated with water lilies, introduces an almost pictorial touch. In spring and summer, these spaces host outdoor receptions; with the arrival of autumn, berries and leaves take on deeper hues, preparing the transition toward the intimacy of the cold season.
The three large communicating rooms, all arranged on the same floor, make it possible to envision weddings throughout the entire year. The Carriage Hall (Salone delle Carrozze) can accommodate up to 230 people, and altogether, the indoor areas reach a total indicated capacity of 450 guests. When the days outside grow shorter, the lit fireplaces and historic halls restore a cozy, warm, and almost domestic charm of elegance to the wedding.
Authentic civil rites can be celebrated in the gardens or indoors. For those desiring a religious ceremony, it is also possible to organize it in the sixteenth-century church of Santa Maria del Riposo, located about three kilometers from the estate.
Selected caterers, floral designers, musicians, and imaging professionals work alongside the staff and ownership to craft the event, respecting the tastes and wishes of the couple. Furthermore, the nearby lake suggests additional interludes, from a boat ride to a stroll around the surroundings of Bracciano.
At Antiche Scuderie Odescalchi, a wedding thus retains the flavor of a grand country celebration infused with a natural nobility. The greenery, water, fireplaces, memory of the horses, and discreet presence of the lake compose a sentimental landscape that shifts with the seasons, making every celebration deeply tied to the exact moment it is experienced.
