The Villa Semenza National Monument, located in Santa Maria Hoè, a few kilometers from Lecco, is a wonderful Villa of the 16th Century, which is the result of several edification, until 1800.
The compound is divided into two courts: the main courtyard, where stands the monumental part, and the rustic courtyard, home to the stables and barns.
Behind the villa there is a beautiful garden with century-olds plants and hydrangeas.
Inside the house there are the hall of the Library, the main living room, the lounge with a piano, the Billiards room and the dining room, all enriched by fine decorated coffered ceilings, painted wallpapers in Baroque style and the original floors from the 19th Century.
The ownership of the villa belonged to different families over the years: from the second half of the 16th Century to the first half of the 19th Century was the family Odescalchi - Erba, Family of the Pope Innocent XI who, it is said, lived in this house. [show more...]
